LASIK COMANAGEMENT

LASIK  is one of the most popular forms of laser vision correction surgery in  the world, with studies estimating that around 700,000 LASIK surgeries  are performed each year. LASIK works by permanently reshaping the clear  dome covering the front part of the eye, called the cornea. In doing so,  patients can enjoy clear vision, often with little to no need to wear  prescription eyewear.

If you are considering LASIK laser  eye surgery, you may hear about LASIK Co-Management. Co-management is  when your eye doctor works alongside a LASIK surgeon and provides you with the pre and post-operative care that you require. Patients often  prefer to continue care with their optometrist because of their  established relationship and the convenience of being seen at the  optometrist’s office, which is usually closer and offers more flexible  scheduling.

What We Do

Our optometrists are able to assess your visual needs and determine if you would be a suitable candidate for LASIK laser vision correction. We can also answer your questions about the procedure and help you understand what to  expect from your results. If you are a good candidate for LASIK eye  surgery, we will refer you to a trusted LASIK surgeon for final  evaluation and treatment. At Fayette Regional Eyecare, we only co-manage  LASIK with surgeons that we have a long-standing, trusted, working relationship with.

Post Surgical Care and Follow-Up

Following  your LASIK treatment, our team will work closely with your surgeon to  ensure that you are well cared for while you heal. Our team will monitor  the healing process, checking both the condition of your eyes and your  vision. You will be scheduled at our clinic for your initial follow-up  visit one day after your procedure. You should not drive until we  evaluate your vision to ensure it meets the necessary legal standard.  You will have another follow-up appointment a week later, as well as  subsequent visits as needed depending on your vision and corneal  healing.

We Work With Only The Best

When we work alongside your LASIK surgeon, we can help to optimize your results and ensure that you receive the  support and attention that you need, before and after your laser vision  correction. Again, rest assured that at Fayette Regional Eyecare, we only co-manage our patient’s LASIK and other refractive surgeries with highly skilled and experienced eye surgeons, who have your safety, as well as your vision in mind.
